The source of the indiscretion is a friend and associate of award-winning Argentine champion Alessandro Dossetti, who posted a story on Instagram in which the Ballon d’Or is clearly visible. There is nothing official yet, but the victory – as a protagonist – at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar seems to have paved the way to his eighth personal recognition. The 2023 Ballon d’Or will be awarded to Lionel Messi in Paris on October 30th.
Even the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, which sees the Argentine champion’s victory in the 67th edition of the award created by “France Football” as certain: for Messi it would be the eighth Ballon d’Or of his career, a resulting success from the World Cup victory in Qatar, which, although it took place at the end of 2022, is among the events taken into account by the judges, as the last edition was celebrated before the tournament. It would also be the first time on the roll of honor for a footballer who doesn’t play in Europe, considering Messi now plays for Inter Miami. However, in women’s football, the newspaper Sport reveals that Aitana Bonmatì will be the winner of the women’s Ballon d’Or.
