Not just picnics and BBQs. The Easter and Easter Monday holidays are also an opportunity to visit public or private museums and art sites throughout Italy. From Milan to Rome There are many museums open to celebrate Easter and Easter Monday in the name of culture.
There Easter 2023 certify the driving force of art cities for Italian tourism and the charm of the Belpaese’s cultural destinations for foreign visitors. In fact, the cultural tourism centers will have over 1.7 million visitors, with an increase of around 190,000 overnight stays compared to Easter 2022. At least 780,000 Italian tourists and 980,000 international tourists are expected (56% of the total). These are the results of a survey carried out for Easter 2023 by the CST Tourism Studies Center for Assoturismo Confesercenti. Art cities are usually the most popular destinations for travelers during the Easter holidays and spring long weekends, and this year too they will be packed with visitors flocking to historic centres, museums, archaeological sites, exhibitions, restaurants and clubs. In detail, the tourist movement in the city and art centers at Easter will see a +12% attendance compared to 2022, and the average occupancy of accommodation facilities is expected to be 80% of availability.
In Rome From April 7th to 10th, the traditional appointment returns with the Easter in Museums initiative. During these days, the Municipal Museums do not celebrate and are open to the public at the usual times, including Easter Monday, offering visitors their rich artistic and cultural heritage. In addition to visiting the permanent collections and current exhibitions with free entry for Mic card holders, it will be possible to participate in educational activities and free entertainment events with the museum entry ticket (if applicable). The Circo Maximo Experience, the exciting immersive visit in augmented and virtual reality of Circus Maximus, continues throughout April. The visitor can be fully immersed in the history of the place thanks to the architectural and landscape reconstructions of all its historical phases.
In Milan The Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology will be open on public holidays with a wide range of activities for both adults and children. And then the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana; Galleries of Italy; Milan Triennale; San Siro Museum; Mudec – Museum of Cultures; Prada Foundation; Leonardo3 Museum; Villa Necchi Campiglio; Holocaust Memorial and Diocesan Museum.
In Naples Weekend full of events. The Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte awaits its visitors for the long Easter weekend with the exhibition “The Spaniards”. In the man there is the exhibition “Picasso and Antiquity”. Hundreds lined up to admire Giuseppe Sanmartino’s Christ Veiled. The Sansevero Chapel was stormed on Good Friday for the inauguration of the Easter Bridge in Naples. With the arrival of over 200,000 visitors in the Campanian capital, the site was sold out from the early hours of the morning with 7,000 people booked over these three days.
