The President of the Council Giorgia Meloni, begins the confrontation with the opposition over institutional reforms. The appointment with the representatives of the political forces, confirms a note from the Palazzo Chigi, is scheduled Tuesday 9 May in the plenary hall of MPs, in the President’s Library.
Also attending the meetings are the Vice-Presidents of the Council, Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani, the Minister for Institutional Reform and Regulatory Simplification, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati; the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani, the Secretaries of State to the Prime Minister, Alfredo Mantovano and Giovanbattista Fazzolari, and the constitutionalist Francesco Saverio Marini.
This is the opportunity for a first confrontation between the Prime Minister and the Secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein.
The form of government – especially the presidentialism – will be the main theme at the heart of next Tuesday’s sessions, but other issues should also be addressed, starting with right to vote.
