Day 3 of Milan Fashion Week, says Walter Chiapponi to Tod’s with a masterful show at the Laboratories della Scala. Loro Piana and the epic of “quiet luxury”

The last notes of a crescendo overture, the chaos of the fascinating Scala Ansaldo Laboratories, where the majestic sets of the Milan theater par excellence usually come to life and order emerges. Then the “Woow” whispered by Sharon Stone cwith his mouth wide open in expression of sincere admiration. Walter Chiapponi’s farewell show at Tod’s was simply magical. And the sincere sparkle in the eyes of the super diva, who sat in the front row not far from Chiara Ferragni and Anna Wintour and followed the fashion show with attention and enthusiasm, was – if at all necessary – confirmation of the great work once again from this young designer made. Chiapponi, 45 years old, from the Marche region, with a CV in which he gained his first experiences at Givenhy with Riccardo Tisci, then at Gucci in the Frida Giannini era, at Valentino and at Miu Miu with Miuccia Prada, crowned his Dream Show, the parade at the Laboratori della Scala, where the sets are being prepared for the premiere of Don Carlo, which will open the season of the Milanese theater par excellence on December 7th. It is a place that represents the embodiment of Italian craftsmanship, where art and craftsmanship come together to create exceptional works. Here he presented his works between the workbenches of the sculptors, set designers and artisans Spring/Summer 24 collection for the Italian brand of Diego Della Valle. “I looked inside myself and traced my story. I’ve waited more than two years to show in a place like this. It’s very much mine,” explained the designer, who dreamed of becoming a sculptor as a child. “Everything is a memory, reminiscences of the 90s, much stricter structures than the garments and tailoring. It is a collection very different from the others, I have moved so far away from romanticism and closer to austerity. The reference women are intellectual, feminist women who are perceived for who they are,” says Chiapponi.

The atmosphere was truly meaningful, as if every step was a definitive tribute to Italian craftsmanship. More than just a fashion show; is an ode to the art, creativity and craftsmanship that lies at the heart of Tod’s. He avoided unnecessary decorations and let the cut, volume and quality of the materials speak for themselves. The result is a collection based on natural tones such as ecru, camel and tobacco with lime green accents. The fabrics, including viscose, linen gauze, transparent fresh wool and very soft nappa, give the garments a timeless elegance. The bags from mini to max are made of very soft leather, while the shoes, including mules and ballerinas with feminine heels, complete the look with class.himself. Chiapponi has once again demonstrated his ability to create garments that celebrate the beauty of the essential, a tribute to Italian craftsmanship and defines an aesthetic that everyone agrees on, from Chiara Ferragni to Sharon Stone. With this latest collection, he leaves an indelible mark on the fashion world and a legacy of timeless style. And as he walked down the catwalk to the applause of the audience, his feeling was our feeling. Ad maiora.
