This will be the national team's 24th game in Bologna, in the stadium that the Azzurri inaugurated on May 29, 1927, Italy-Spain 2-0. For Turkey it is the second time in the Emilian capital, 62 years after the game on December 2nd, 1962. Curiously, the national team's last two games in Bologna are on the same day as the next: on June 4th, 2021 4-0 against the Czech Republic, who led the Azzurri to Wembley triumph; on the same day in 2022, the 1-1 draw against Germany in the Nations League, which contributed to winning the group; On June 4th it will be the turn of the Italy-Turkey game again, which will also mark the return to Italy of Vincenzo Montella, who has been on the Turkish bench since last September. The former Aeroplanino will be the 12th Italian coach to face Italy (Trapattoni with Ireland and Ghedin with Malta have challenged the Azzurri four times): he will do so in Bologna, where his time with the Azzurri began. Coincidentally, it was June 5, 1999, Italy-Wales (qualifying for EURO 2000), his debut in the 1st minute of the second half when coach Zoff sent him onto the pitch in place of Christian Vieri.
